Have a HEALTHY 2012!

Hello and happy new year to you all. Many people, myself included, will be making resolutions and setting goals at this time of year, and many of those goals will be to lose weight or get fit. They are often the same goals that were failed last year and the year before, and you may be wondering why the latest glossy magazine diet just does not work unlike those models in the pictures??? The reason is that most of these 'fat loss' diets prescribed by so called experts in the media are short term, un-sustainable and ultimately doomed to failure for the majority of the population.
What is the alternative?
HEALTH.
The main issue that most of these programmes miss out is that to be a healthy weight, you need to actually be healthy in every sense. Is a person on a cabbage soup diet healthy? I would argue not. Is somebody on the Atkins diet who only eats meat healthy? Probably not either. The first stop for long term fat loss and maintenance needs to be getting the rubbish out of your diet and replacing it with a great variety of healthy and natural foods, in particular dark green leafy vegetables. You will need to remove toxins like alcohol and caffeine as well as irritants like gluten and dairy, whilst drinking plenty of filtered water, sleeping well and exercising regularly.
Before you start trying to lose body fat, you should start by trying to be as healthy as possible, because there is no such thing as a healthy fat person. Fact. This is how I approach all of my clients, whether they are on bootcamp or personal training with me, and I believe it secures them a better future, long after they move on from our sessions together.

Stay Strong

Ben
